Schools only have a couple of weeks left to update their premises before the new term starts and the halls are filled with students again.
This means that as well as making sure any repairs are completed, new signage is sorted, and all equipment is replenished, bigger projects, such as replacing the floors, need to be finished.
Getting the right flooring in schools is essential, as it needs to be something that will not wear and tear easily, get dirty before the end of the first week, or cause pupils to slip as they race through the corridors, as teenagers inevitably do.
Once the new term commences, school floors will have to deal with hundreds of people walking on them every day. Therefore, they need to be durable and able to withstand heavy traffic.
They also need to adhere to high health and safety standards to avoid any accidents or pupils getting injured.
Youngsters are not well known for being cautious and often run from classroom to classroom, so anti-slip flooring is a must in schools. This will reduce the likelihood of falling, and keep as many people as possible safe while walking around the building.
School floors also need to be easy to clean, otherwise they can quickly become filthy.
Cleaners typically tend to the floors after the bell goes every day, but having floors that are already antibacterial will make their job much easier.
It will also reduce the spread of germs throughout the school, which means fewer pupils and staff members will fall ill and attendance can remain high. This is particularly important as the term progresses and winter bugs set in.
